William Davenport has been doing documentaries for several years now, and in 2013 he documented a noise fest in St. Petersburg, where Arvo was featured.   It is now available as part of a set of 4 films covering noise music, cassette culture, and zine makers, as well as a reissue compilation from Davenport's UNSOUND zine in the 80s, featuring  Negativland, P16.D4, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Die Todliche Doris, SBOTHI, Problemist, and more.   At a glance, there are features with Hal McGee, Don Campau, Little Fyodor, Big City Orchestra, GX Jupitter-Larsen, Hunting Lodge, Al Margolis, Jeff Chenault, Joel Haertling, Randy Greif, and many others!




WILT's "Nocturnal Requiem" and Arvo Zylo's "Hello Walls" were featured on the dark ambient video blog "The Inner Sanctum".  The 4th episode extends into noise, experimental, and dungeon synth, but in general, is a great authority on dark ambient, and its host, Noctilucant, is very thoughtful in his reviews of various releases of his choosing.

Illusion of Safety's "Surrender" release (the cassette is out of print but pro CDR and digital are still available) was reviewed by the Cassette Gods blog.  Here is the very sensory-oriented and brief review:

You’re in an airport bathroom stall wrestling with a malfunctioning auto-dispenser. Macabre transactions are occurring out there past the smell of ammonia and rotting caulk.  The airport TVs are blaring again, but each one blends into the next one so that the news program says that another boy has been shot by the cops & another flight is cancelled, but you don’t know which boy (is it you this time?) or which flight (is it you this time?).



Arvo's Ferrante & Teicher inspired release was featured (twice) as part of an ongoing playlist by "A-Z DJ" on soundcloud.  Also featured are Pan Sonic, Ruins, Lasse Marhaug, Fred Frith, Hamid Drake, Peter Brotzmann, Sun City Girls, and more.    

 Arvo has contributed a work in progress to Neil Jendon's "1 electronic sound for 5 minutes" project, which is celebrating its anniversary on October 8th in Chicago at TriTriangle.  Live performances and tracks featured remotely will be presented throughout the night, all in segments of 5 minutes each.  

BLOOD RHYTHMS will be performing for the first time in Seattle, and for the first time in over a year, on October 30th.  More details to follow.  If all goes well, this will be a release party for an extremely limited 6 cassette box set entirely featuring side-long contributions from under-appreciated solo artists.  Get in touch if you are interested in reserving a copy.
